Uh so where to begin. Well lets get one thing right this is NOT a Hip-Hop CD. This is definitely a pop or even R&B CD. I'm going to do something different here and break the review down track by track:
1: Say You Will - Might be one of the worst opening tracks ever for a CD. The beat is annoying if you can even call it a beat. Basically I really hate this song.
2: Welcome To Heartbreak (Featuring Kid Cudi) - I like this song has a good vibe to it and great hook with Cudi. Ive already heard that Cudi is going to really take off after Kanye showed him love...but we already know about him so...?
3: Heartless : Great track and a proper single, just wish when he preforms it live he didn't use so much auto-tune on it.
4: Amazing (Featuring Young Jeezy) : At first I hated this track but now its really growing on me. Its one of those songs you can sing along too easily and also a song that's a low-tempo club banger if that makes sense. Also Jeezy kills it
5: Love Lockdown : Never liked this song. Auto-tune at its worst. I think its just way too plain to be a song on a album more mixtape material Id say or just scrape it but I guess people like it.
6: Paranoid (Featuring Mr Hudson & Kid Cudi) : Very good pop record. At least he somewhat raps on this one. Another good hook that will have you singing along. The beat is very GTA Vice City.
7: Robocop : Well when this first leaked it didn't sound anything like the CD version and that's good because the leaked version was (if Im being nice) not good at all. I think this version of it is a bit better. I like the strings although I don't like the overall movement of the track. Still though its a alright album track and keeps growing on me every listen which is good.
8: Streetlights : Its a odd tune filled with auto-tune so its a loser for me next track.
9: Bad News : Ok so I'm sure there are people who like this as the lyrics are deep but I just cant get into it that much so yeah skip.
10: See You In My Nightmares (Featuring Lil Wayne) : Best track on the album by far. I can see past the ridiculous auto-tune effects for now because its just a great song.
11: Coldest Winter : Another strange song from Kanye to me. I don't like this one either just one track to go....
13. Pinocchio Story (Freestyle Live From Singapore) : Uh ok if you are going to put something from a live gig on a album can we get good quality. Hate it just because it sounds like a cell phone video on Youtube. Freestyle is good though but still.
So in summary I think the CD isn't Kanye's best and I hope he goes back to everything he has done before this. I enjoyed parts of the CD but personally the auto-tune and the singing and just the entire album can get to me a lot. I wouldn't really tell you to go and get the album because I, me, personally doesn't like this direction he is going with his music. I know people say he has lost touch and is a ego maniac, he says that he hasn't changed his style....but he has. This is not the Kanye I like and I hope he goes back to good Hip Hop.
